You’re right. His name actually has come up before. He interviewed for the Padres job in 2006. I think he’s been allowed to interview with other teams, too, I believe.
His name has been mentioned a couple times in the past as the next Cardinals manager but Tony La Russa has been such a great fit there.
He’ll manage someday somewhere in the big leagues.
