Is it true that…..?
In 1920 there was a misprint of baseball cards that showed Babe Ruth in a Red Sox uniform even though he played for the Yankees that year???
I read it in this book Swindle and I’m doing a book report and i was wondering if this actually happened.
Ruth appeared in 6 somewhat related main sets in 1920. They were called “strip cards” because they were sold in strips. Ruth was in the W516-1, W516-2, W519-1, W519-unnumbered sets, W520, and W522 sets.

Perhaps the card you are referring to is the W516-1 or the W516-2. It shows him in what could be a Red Sox uniform but the cards do say Yanks on it. Since he was sold in January 1920 it’s quite possible these cards were produced early in the year (before he even played for the Yankees). As far as I’m aware, every card for Ruth from those sets show the same picture so you can’t really classify that as a misprint. These cards also say he was a pitcher and since he only pitched 1 game for the Yankees in 1920 that’s further proof that perhaps these cards came out before the season started.
The bigger oddity is the W516-2 card. It looks to be a mirror image of the W516-1 so it appears that Ruth is pitching the ball right handed.
