Question for Youth League baseball coaches. I am coaching a pick-up team for tournaments for children ….?
who did not make the regular 9-10 year old All Star team. We are facing a team from a town 5 times the size of ours. Would you play weaker gloves in the infield for stronger arms in the outfield. We have an abundance of weak arms and our better gloves have the better arms. Any other strategies besides prayer (I have already done this). (-:
I have coached a team similar to what you have, and what i did is try to spread out your good gloves to help the weaker ones. you have to have a good glove and arm a short, 3rd, and center field. weeker arms are better to have at 2nd base, 1st base, and in right field. But most importantly you have to have a good catcher. i am assuming you can steal all bases maybe except for home. without a good arm at catcher a team can walk all over you. Hope this helps you out. the strategy worked out pretty good for me we won some games in tournaments. but tell your kids as long as they are happy how they played and that they gave 100% they should not be dissapointed whether they win or lose
